Ahmed Ali Alshamsi serves as the Chief Executive Officer of EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company), following his appointment to the role in 2025. He has been a Board Member of EWEC since 2022. A skilled and forward-thinking leader, Ahmed is accelerating the energy transition utilising transformative technologies, overseeing the strategic direction of EWEC to ensure the security, efficiency, and sustainability of water and electricity supply across the UAE.
Ahmed brings extensive experience in the development and management of world-class utility and infrastructure projects, fostering collaboration with public and private sector partners to advance the UAE’s renewable and clean energy agenda. His strategic vision is helping to future-proof the UAE’s utilities sector, enhance the integration of renewable and low-carbon technologies, and strengthen organisational capabilities to support future system requirements, all while cultivating the next generation of Emirati industry talent.
Prior to his role at EWEC, Ahmed held prominent positions across the utilities sector, expertly leading business development and special projects that helped drive the development of critical infrastructure assets, and portfolio management of sovereign wealth fund assets.
Ahmed holds an MSc in International Development and Public Policy and a BA in Economics, both from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
